1 Peter 1:23 Commentary by Jacob Atitebi

WORD MEDITATION
21st of April, 2017.

TEXT: 1 Peter 1:23

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Jacob Atitebi's COMMENTARY

Apostle Peter here wrote his letter to God's chosen people who are living as foreigners in Five cities. The word is also for as many born again   people of God.
In verse 23rd, he make us to understand that since we have born again by accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and saviour, our new life which we live in the flesh did come from corruptible seed I.e our parents. Yes the life they gave us is a corruptible one because it can and will perish one day. David said in " Psalms  51:5  Behold, I was sharpen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me." That life given to us by our parent will end in death.

As a Christian since you have been born again, your new life is from the eternal , living word of God. This new life in Christ will last forever. It is a life which comes from the word of God that abide forever. The bible says
" The word of God is full of living power..." Hebrew 4:12

We are born by the word of truth.... James 1:18

Finally, the beloved of God we must live our new life with the understanding that we have eternal life that will last forever because it comes from living and abiding word of God.
