Galatians 5:19-21 Commentary by Jacob Atitebi

WORD MEDITATION

26th of April, 2017.

When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,
idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division,
envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

The flesh is the corrupt and unrenewed part of human nature. The unregenerate part in the regenerate man (Romans 7:18). This flesh produces works in man that is contrary to that of Spirit. The flesh is the sinful nature.
Apostle Paul gave us here the results of following the desire of your sinful nature. As I said earlier every man has flesh that war against the Spirit in him. When you obey the desire of your flesh it will make you to commit sexual sins and others as mentioned by Apostle Paul in our study texts.  This works manifest in the life of man because it cannot be hid Hebrew 4:13. When you committed the sins mentioned above, it shows you have obeyed the desire of your sinful nature in disobedience to the Spirit. Paul told the saint in Rome that when you're controlled by your old nature, sinful desire were at work within you you. The evil desire were aroused to produced sinful deeds which will eventually result in death.  In verse 21 Paul remind us again that those who live by manifesting the desire of his sinful nature will not inherit God's kingdom. Fulfilling the desire of the flesh will end you in eternal death. The way out is to live in the Spirit therefore you won't do what your sinful nature crave for.
